Job Description

Detection of Unidentified Garbage Vulnerable Points using Drones and AI


This project aims to develop an autonomous system to detect Garbage Vulnerable Sites (GVPs) using drones with AI-driven image-processing technologies. 


Required Expertise:

Hardware Assembling: Assembling the physical products, ensuring that the design is functional and efficient.

ML model and Image Processing: Expertise of machine learning and image processing is required to train computers to recognize patterns and analyze images, so that it will be able to interpret visual data.

Drone Programming and Deployment: Expertise in drone programming and deployment for writing and executing the code that makes the drone fly, collect images and the path of the drone.

Drone management and testing: Expertise in drone management and testing to ensure that drones are maintained properly and are ready to fly.

Project Management: 

Cloud Deployment: Need expertise of deploying machine learning models on cloud platform.

Skills Required

The main technologies that have been used in this project are as follows:

  1.  Drone Technology

Drones equipped with high-resolution cameras and GPS navigation will be deployed to capture aerial images and precisely geolocate detected garbage dumps. These drones will follow pre-programmed flight paths, utilizing GPS data to efficiently cover large areas, including remote and hard-to-reach locations. The expertise in operating drones and programming flight paths, aerodynamics is an important aspect of our project. Moreover, the team possesses proficiency in using drone control software, integration of hardware with software, and GPS navigation systems. 


  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

AI and machine learning also contribute to this project majorly for training and analyzing the captured images. One of the widely and efficient deep learning models namely Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) will be employed to detect and classify garbage-based images. For implementation, various libraries like OpenCV, TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch will be used to build efficient models.


  1. Global Positioning System Mapping Tools

GPS data will be recorded to precisely locate the garbage dumping sites and to further capture images. Various GPS mapping tools, such as ArcGIS or Google Maps API, shall be used for effective geographic data integration and visualization.


  1. Cloud Platform

Images and data captured by the drones will be stored on the cloud server. Further, cloud machine learning platforms will be used to provide processing services required to train machine learning models.
